As another powerful Aleran says towards the end of canon, Septimus is an 'overempowered engine of destruction'. There's any number of things he can do. I'll explain the shorthand first. Enjoy the following rambly explanations...

The Breakdown:

Furycrafting
If you're curious/want a more in-depth description of furycrafting, it can be found on this page. For the tl;dr, it is elemental spirit magic. Given such:

Does Sep have permission to...
- Read your character's emotions? A subdivision of this: know if they're telling the truth? Powerful psychic/empathic-type shields and/or hefty, well-trained mental control (especially consciously applied) will block him. It also pretty much includes sensing they're there. Touch increases this.
- Use his projective empathic powers? These include: calm or startle animals or people; induce (and probably reduce, two sides of coin, etc) basic biological hungers (for food or sex, mostly); incite courage/fear or happiness/anger.
- Successfully shield from being noticed? This means emotions/whether he's telling the truth, and to some degree his presence for psychic stuff). I'd say extend this to his wind, wood, and earth veils, although those are mostly physical things, so they are a lot more likely to apply to Everyone unless there is Special Sensing Things.
- Sense your character's presence with earthcrafting, woodcrafting, windcrafting? The second two are a lot more unlikely, but possible. The first will mostly apply if your character's seriously disturbing the earth for some reason (canonical: actively tunneling). Even that, he's less experienced. (Note: He will sense any metal on someone's person.)
- Use furycrafting in combat? I'll note that it's just part of how he fights, generally, but it's also dangerous, so if you'd rather avoid it, just gimme a heads.
(Note: sensing/projecting feelings only works in physical presence. No video-mind-reading. Just in case anyone was wondering.)

Non-crafting
- Get into combat? If so, please give an idea of skill level. Even without magic, Septimus is a fantastic swordsman. Then magic makes him better. Again, if you'd just rather avoid combat in general, let me know.
- Do you want his precognition and preternatural instincts to interact with your character? Obviously precog is complicated, but having a general instinct about a person--likely reactions, Who They Are As A Core Personality, maybe just a general unconscious awareness of... whatever, let me know here how far you'd want it to go. I suspect this is especially relevant with how far his intuition will go as far as secret identities, random back history, etc. Happy to discuss it in detail if it's murky.
